It’s not everyday that we get a request to do an 80’s Style Step Brother Inspired Portrait session. However, we were up for the challenge.
Darby & Luke came to us with a special request wanting to have a little fun creating some photos for their upcoming school newsletter. You see both of them work as administrators and they thought this would be a great idea to have a little fun.
The inspiration was the classic movie Step Brothers and school portraits from the 1980s. We did an entire custom photography session in our studio mimicking some of the classic marketing photos from the movie. Here are the double exposure style portraits we created for them though. They were meant to specifically look like the iconic school portraits that so many kids from the 80’s had taken. However, these did not feature the laser lights in the background that I remember having.
We started by researching the photos that were created for the movie. Darby and Luke were in charge of finding their own apparel. And they absolutely nailed their selections. Then we made sure we pulled some classic grey and black backdrops in our studio so that we could photograph the picture of them. We did some individual shots like the ones here. We also took photos of the two of them together like is featured on the movie poster and cover. Darby and Luke hammed it up and did a great job at recreating the classic feel of the original photos while definitely bringing their own personalities and humor into the photo session.
So these aren’t the typical Business Profile or Headshots that we would create. However they are fun and purpose specific. And guess what? The faculty loved the pictures when they saw them.
What fun ideas do you have? We’d love to help you bring them to life. even if it’s not a 80’s Style Step Brother Inspired Portrait Session, let’s collaborateE
